Summary: 
This position is responsible for overseeing and guiding MS Technology’s engineering department and serves as the highest authority on engineering matters. This role involves providing oversight and direction to engineering teams, developing technical strategies, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. This leadership role will drive engineering execution across complex, safety-critical projects while cultivating a culture of technical rigor, innovation, and mentorship. This role is integral to the company’s success.


Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure collaboration, productivity, and accountability.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement technical strategies aligned with company goals and future growth.
  • Project Management: Oversee engineering and product development projects, ensuring successful delivery in scope, schedule, and budget. Maintain and cultivate strong client relationships with national laboratories, DOE offices, utilities, and EPC firms.
  • Budget Management: Setting and managing budgets for engineering projects, deliverables, and internal initiatives (e.g., training, software, tools).
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments and external clients to align engineering outcomes with business and mission needs.
  • Technical Expertise: Serving as the highest authority and technical conscience on engineering matters within the company.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Mindset: Demonstrate cross-functional understanding to integrate civil, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering with operational needs.
  • Innovation: Drive long-term R&D priorities and expand the company’s technical capabilities through innovation.
  • Problem Solving: Addressing complex engineering challenges and providing solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring engineering projects meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentorship: Lead staffing, recruiting, and development of high-performing engineering teams; mentor early-career engineers and reinforce professional licensure and continuing education
  • Communication: Exhibit strong verbal and written communication, fostering collaboration across departments and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Balancing competing demands and making decisions that benefit the company.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with IT, operations, and executive leadership to integrate digital tools and analytics into engineering workflows.
Education / Experience:                                                                                  
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of work experience as a Project Manager or Project Engineer with a strong record in nuclear infrastructure, DOE capital projects, and/or commercial NPPs.
  • Work experience in or directly interfacing with Operations (DOD, DOE, Commercial Nuclear) preferred.
  • Project Management Professional Certification preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license required (or able to obtain within 6 months of hire), existing license in TN, NV,
  • OH, SC, and/or TX strongly preferred.
Experience working with government clients is required.
  • Experience with advanced reactor technologies or SMRs is preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship and DOE Q-Clearance required, Existing DOE Q-Clearance strongly preferred.
 
Additional Skills:
  • Ability to deal with conflicts and stressful situations.
  • Able to engage in strategic conversations leveraging project management as the core competency.
  • Comfort with public speaking and familiarity with business development.
  • Comfortable leading multidisciplinary and multi-cultural teams across time zones.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, including 10 CFR Part 50/52, DOE O 413.3, and NQA-1 quality systems.
  • Advanced level understanding of PMP principles.
  • Fluent in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other CAD 2D or 3D package.
  • Strong analytical/problem resolution skills.
  • Experience with asset management and engineering information systems.
  • Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint.
