Systems Engineer
The Systems Engineer is responsible for developing, managing, and documenting requirements, risks, and cost projections for rapidly evolving projects, including manufacturing nuclear fuels for SMRs, microreactors for terrestrial and space applications, and other technologies. Overall, this position is about enacting a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach on projects, from concept formulation through detailed design.
Responsibilities
- Work with engineering team and leadership to develop and document high-level requirements for new or proposed projects.
- Facilitate the expansion of high-level requirements into traceable lower Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs) level requirements, and implement in systems integration software (e.g., GENESYS, Visure, DOORS, DOORS Next Gen).
- Lead or facilitate requirements reviews to develop baselines and implement design control.
- Support project leads in risk monitoring and documentation.
- Support Concept of Operations (ConOps) development for projects.
- Develop cost models for proposed and developing projects.
- Write and critically review technical reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Minimum Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from a U.S. based, ABET accredited university with at least 3 years of experience or
- Master’s and 1-2 years’ experience of MBSE, preferably in a hardware-based industry with strict workflow and quality assurance standards (e.g., nuclear, aerospace, automotive).
- Experience using systems integration software preferred.
- Experience with risk management and risk tracking preferred.
- Experience in developing cost models and understanding of finance plans preferred.
- Proficiency in written and oral reporting, communication, and presentation.
- Familiarity with NQA-1, ISO 9001, or equivalent quality control system.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and to maintain US security clearance is preferred.
