Summary: The Lead Electrician / Panel Builder is responsible for leading electrical panel fabrication, wiring, and assembly activities in accordance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. This role serves as the technical lead for electrical work, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence while providing hands‑on leadership and guidance to shop personnel.
Location: Onsite in Tennessee Salary Range: Depending on experience
Responsibilities:
Build, wire, and test electrical control panels and assemblies in accordance with schematics and specifications
Serve as technical lead for panel fabrication and electrical work within the shop
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and company safety requirements
Perform quality inspections and functional testing of electrical assemblies
Troubleshoot wiring, component, and system issues and implement corrective actions
Coordinate work sequencing to meet production schedules
Maintain tools, test equipment, and a clean, organized work area
Provide guidance, training, and oversight to electrical technicians and panel builders
Document build completion, testing results, and any deviations or rework
Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, and efficiency
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial electrical work or panel building
Demonstrated experience leading electrical fabrication or installation activities
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Strong knowledge of NEC and industrial electrical standards
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Preferred Qualifications:
Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent experience
Experience building UL‑listed control panels
Experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
Exposure to government, DOE, or regulated project environments
PLC wiring or industrial controls experience
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Ability to work in an industrial fabrication environment
Ability to stand, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs
Routine exposure to electrical equipment, tools, noise, and shop hazards
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
